GlacierHaven is located in Kalispell, the heart of the Flathead Valley of northwest Montana adjacent to Glacier National Park and some of North America’s most spectacular scenery.
Kalispell is easily accessible by air, car, or train. Out of town clients can fly directly into Kalispell’s Glacier Park International Airport (FCA is the airport code), which is serviced by Alaska, American, Delta, and United, as well as smaller airlines such as Allegiant and a few others, and rent a vehicle from one of the major rental companies. Some clients may choose to fly into Missoula (airport code MSO) or Spokane, WA (airport code GEG), and drive from there. Missoula is a two hour drive from Kalispell, and Spokane is a four hour drive (plus a one hour time zone change from Pacific to Mountain).
Clients may choose to stay at any of a number of fine local resorts or hotels, including The Hidden Moose Lodge or Grouse Mountain Lodge, both in Whitefish, the North Forty Resort, north of Kalispell, or another area hotel from a national chain such as Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, Hilton Garden, Hampton Inn, and many more, located in and around Kalispell. Many of these places offer complimentary breakfasts, and there are plenty of excellent local eateries in the area, some national and some unique to here. Of course, there are also many AirBnB and VRBO options as well.
There is plenty to do, although not a lot of available free time during an intensive week. Glacier National Park, The Jewel Basin, Flathead Lake, the Flathead River, and Whitefish Lake are beautiful places to visit with many activities to consider. Some people build an extra day or two into their visit to take advantage of what our area has to offer recreationally.
What clothing should we bring with us?
Northwest Montana’s climate can be highly variable in a very short amount of time, and bringing clothing that is seasonally appropriate and easily layered according to local weather conditions and forecasts is a good idea. It is also recommended that you bring clothing suitable for light seasonally-adjusted outdoor activity, such as mild hiking or snowshoeing, as that kind of activity may be included as an assignment in your treatment. If you forget anything, you won’t have any trouble finding what you need in stores easily in the area, and at reasonable prices.
What should we bring in terms of other materials?
Very little. You may wish to bring a Bible, a notebook or some other way of making notes and writing, and you will want to bring a very open heart and mind. Guests will most likely get the maximum benefit during their time here by disconnecting from their everyday obligations and concerns, such as work, email, social media, etc., as much as possible while they are here so that they can maintain their focus on accomplishing what they have come to do.
